Why Pace Matters

One thing travellers consistently tell me is how much they value a journey that’s well paced, seeing what matters without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

That’s why I pay close attention to how itineraries flow. Whether it’s a cruise, escorted tour, or independent travel, the goal is always the same: to experience each place fully, without unnecessary backtracking, constant packing and unpacking, or time wasted in transit, so the journey feels as good as the destination.

Italy, Beyond the Obvious

For travellers who’ve already experienced Rome, Florence, or Venice, or who simply want something a little different, Italy often reveals itself most beautifully beyond the headline cities.

Think trulli lined streets in Alberobello, coffee above the cliffs at Polignano a Mare, or wandering the honey coloured lanes of Noto, where baroque architecture and everyday life sit side by side. In places like Taormina, ancient streets lead naturally to coastal views and long, unhurried evenings.

These regions are best enjoyed at a relaxed pace, by train, by car, or as part of a thoughtfully planned journey, with time to enjoy local food and wine, wander without an agenda, and feel the rhythm of each place.

If Italy is on your horizon, I’m always happy to talk through regions and travel styles that may surprise you, and help you discover a version of Italy that feels genuinely your own.

Japan & South Korea by Sea

A revealing way to experience Japan is by tracing the coastline by sea, where cities arrive gradually and the landscape becomes part of the journey.

Sail from Tokyo and step ashore in places like Osaka, Kochi, and Hiroshima, with time to explore local markets, enjoy regional food, wander through gardens, and discover historic towns where tradition sits comfortably alongside modern life. Crossing to Busan adds a distinctly South Korean flavour before the journey continues through Japan’s northern ports and scenic bays.

Days unfold at a comfortable rhythm, balancing full days ashore with relaxed time onboard, an approach that suits travellers who want depth and variety without the constant packing and unpacking.

On finding the right fit

Not every destination, resort, or cruise suits every traveller. That’s why I spend time understanding what people want from a holiday before making recommendations.

Often the best option isn’t the most obvious one, but the one that quietly fits, whether that’s a lesser known island, a smaller ship that reaches places others can’t, or a journey with the right pace.

Thinking ahead?

If you’re starting to think about travel for later this year or beyond, whether it’s a cruise, escorted tour, island escape, or something a little different, this is often a good time to start the conversation.

Early planning can open up better availability, smoother routing, and more choice, particularly for popular destinations and smaller group travel. I’m always happy to talk things through and help you find the right fit.

No pressure. Just good advice when you need it.

Until next time,
Rebecca (Becks)
